Week 3/Color Palette

Hey everyone, so for this weeks post I focus mostly one experimenting in drawing in grayscale. For the first piece Geranium I wanted to focus on lighting so I thought why not get the values I wanted to express the correct way instead of going through with painting in color .

(Still in sketch Phase)

I thought adding a nature nymph spirit to the respectful flowers would add more narative within in the pieces.

Geranium :

The symbolism of the geranium flower is most commonly associated with the type or color of the geranium. Some common symbolism includes:

  • Horseshoe Geranium – Stupidity or Folly
  • Ivy Geranium – Favor
  • Lemon Scented Geranium – Unexpected Meeting
  • Oak Leaf Geranium – True Friendship

Wanted to play on that idea that the plants are jellyfish/spirit like.

Wishful,Spirit, calm

The common and humble Dandelion has a surprising amount of different meanings. The Dandelion means:

  • Healing from emotional pain and physical injury alike
  • Intelligence, especially in an emotional and spiritual sense
  • The warmth and power of the rising sun
  • Surviving through all challenges and difficulties
  • Long lasting happiness and youthful joy
  • Getting your wish fulfilled

Aloe vera, True Aloe

Aloe in Sanskrit means Goddess

Originally a native of South and East Africa, this remarkable healing plant flourishes in warm, dry climates such as the Mediterranean.

For this piece I had the idea of an African princess taking shelter from rain while accompanied by spirit goddess.

Humilis Alba Coerulea Oculata

blue eyed tulip

Tulips are symbolic of fame and perfect love. The symbolic meanings also change with the color of the tulips. Red tulips mean “believe me” and are a declaration of true love. Variegated tulips mean “you have beautiful eyes.” Yellow tulips mean “there’s sunshine in your smile” and cheerful thoughts. Cream colored tulips mean “I will love you forever.” White tulips symbolize heaven, newness and purity. Purple tulips symbolize royalty. Pink tulips mean affection and caring. Orange tulips mean energy, enthusiasm, desire, and passion.
