Week 4

First sketches of just trying to figure out the pose, color, tone of the piece.

Im came up with the name of the series ” When Are  We” being that our characters are bonded to their plants/nymphs but they dont remember who they once were in a previous life. They were so close to nature and each character connected to a different plant of nature they are the first ever beings.

(Like the concept of the characters discovering that in a past life they  were gods)

Character: Jac

Sometimes is a hot head and doesnt think, but try his best to lead. Often feels lost at times and depend on others to pull him together at times.

I thought adding a nature nymph spirit to the respectful flowers would add more narrative within in the pieces.

Geranium :

The symbolism of the geranium flower is most commonly associated with the type or color of the geranium. Some common symbolism includes:

  • Lemon Scented Geranium – Unexpected Meeting <- played on that meaning for this piece

pace-recovered22 Character: Pace

Humble and out going. Can bring anyone back from corruption.

Humilis Alba Coerulea Oculata

blue eyed tulip

Tulips are symbolic of fame and perfect love. The symbolic meanings also change with the color of the tulips. Red tulips mean “believe me” and are a declaration of true love. Variegated tulips mean “you have beautiful eyes.” Yellow tulips mean “there’s sunshine in your smile” and cheerful thoughts. Cream colored tulips mean “I will love you forever.” White tulips symbolize heaven, newness and purity. Purple tulips symbolize royalty. Pink tulips mean affection and caring. Orange tulips mean energy, enthusiasm, desire, and passion.

I wanted to convey that Pace is like this goddess of the swamp so I thought white and blue would be fitting.

Character: Becca

Very kind and try’s to find the good in everyone, in tune with her senses.

Wanted to play on that idea that the plants are jellyfish/spirit like.

Wishful,Spirit, calm

The common and humble Dandelion has a surprising amount of different meanings. The Dandelion means:

  • Healing from emotional pain and physical injury alike
  • Intelligence, especially in an emotional and spiritual sense
  • The warmth and power of the rising sun
  • Surviving through all challenges and difficulties
  • Long lasting happiness and youthful joy

aloe

Character: Zak

Prince, short fuse, likes to be in control and doesn’t like when others take the lead.

Aloe vera, True Aloe

Aloe in Sanskrit means Goddess

Originally a native of South and East Africa, this remarkable healing plant flourishes in warm, dry climates such as the Mediterranean.

For this piece I had the idea of an African prince taking shelter from rain while accompanied by spirits .
